Round 3 Wrap Up: 3 Wins and a Draw for the Bombers


There were good signs for the Bombers in Round 3 after a hard fought two weekends of cricket

against cross town rivals Footscray.


The 1st XI were brave against a strong Footscray side holding on 8 down to secure a valuable point

away at Merv Hughes Oval. Connor Poulton scored a classy 88 opening the batting to continue his

excellent start to the season. Pulton now sits 5 th on the competition batting aggregates with 221 runs

@ 55.25. The 1sts now sit 14th on the ladder after Round 3.

The 2nd XI recorded a strong win 8 down against Footscray at Cross Keys. After a strong bowling

performance on day one to bowl Footscray out for 261, the Bombers not without a few hiccups

chased the target 8 down. Noah Panaia the star with a match winning 116 not out. Nav Rai was the

star the week before with 5/43. The win elevates the 2nds to 8th on the ladder.


The 3rds recorded another strong win chasing down Footscray’s 226 to finish 8-258 at stumps. Heath

Doherty the star with 82 opening the batting. The 3rds remain undefeated and sit 2nd on the ladder.


The 4ths rounded out Round 3 on Sunday with an excellent run chase at Cross Keys. Resuming at 0-

36 the 4ths chased down Footscray’s 237 5 wickets down. Nivain Gamanayake (55) and Prab Singh

(57) broke the back of the chase with an 119 run opening stand, Seth Mcdowell (50)

backed up what was from all reports a strong performance at Moonee Valley last Saturday scoring a classy 50

whilst Krit Darj (50*) saw the boys home.


The Bombers now look towards Round 4, a Two Day game against Melbourne University.
