Round 13 Match Reports

It was a tough day for the Bombers losing in all 4 grades against Richmond CC.

1st XI RCC 7-239 def ECC 216

The Bombers took a detoured route out to Central Reserve on Saturday after the much anticipated match at Queen Elizabeth Oval, Bendigo had to be cancelled due to bushfires. Bowling first The Bombers did well in restricting the Tigers to 7/239 on a good batting wicket. Leg spinner Ikroop Dhanoa (3/39) was the pick of the bowlers whilst Nick McGuane chipped in with 2/60.

With bat in hand The Bombers looked threatening. Josh Trembearth continued his strong season with a well made 89 whilst Englishmen Harry Duke made 40. Ultimately though despite being a winning position the first couldn’t get the job done and were bowled for only 216 in what a disappointing finish.

The loss leaves The Bombers back in 16th on the ladder.

2nd XI RCC 4/303 def ECC 217

Playing at Windy Hill the Bombers lost the toss and bowled first. Lachie Busk struck early to have the tigers 1/31 however from there it was one way traffic and The Tigers amassed 274 before the next wicket. A couple of late run outs kept the Tigers to 4/303.

Needing to start well the run chase never got going with early wickets falling. South Australian import Paul Wasiewicz impressed in his first game with 43 whilst all rounders Arin Mishra (35) and Noah Guida (34) also battled hard late in a losing cause. The Bombers bowled out for a disappointing 217.

3rd XI ECC 9-181 def by RCC 9-182.

The 3rds went down in a thriller at Cross Keys (SPW Oval) by only one wicket.

Batting first the 3rds posted 9-181 with contributions from Vansh Sandhu (22) Sean Phillips Williams (24) and Heath Doherty (26) in what were described as tough batting conditions.

With ball in hand the 3rds gave it their all and had the upper hand reducing the Tigers to 5 for 92 and then 8-160. Unfortunately though the Tigers rallied and were able sneak across the line leaving the healthy Cross Keys crowd on the edge of their seats. Para Singh (2/35), Heath Doherty (2/35) and Sheik Aaron Cornish (2/25) were the pick of the bowlers.

The loss sees the 3rds go to 5th on the ladder.

Playing on Sunday at Cross Keys (SPW Oval) the 4ths batted first posting 121. Pahul Sodhi top scored with 32 whilst Viraj Aulakh (27) also batted well.

With ball in hand there wasn’t much to write home about with the Tigers chasing down the target only 2 wickets downs. George Dikeos was the pick of the bowlers with 1/23.

The loss leaves the 4ths 15th on the ladder.

The Bombers now look ahead to a big game against local rivals Melbourne University. Two Day cricket returns with the 1st XI at home at Windy Hill in a Saturday/Sunday game.
