It was a good day for the Bombers, some good performances all round leave all four grades in the contest.
1ST XI: ECC 220 – CAMBERWELL 0-3
Looking to go one better after last week’s draw, the firsts were sent in by Camberwell upon
their return to Windy Hill. After losing their first in an early mix up, the Magpies made the
most of the early conditions with the new ball. Losing a few quick wickets and needing
someone to steady the ship, wicket keeper Connor Poulton strode to the crease at number
four. In a classy innings that consisted of nine fours, the young gun fought hard despite
wickets falling around him. Looking well on his way to a maiden first XI ton, the tail showed
great resistance to hold up the other end (Jacob Pawlowicz 11 off 66 and Nicholas McGuane
7 off 66). After getting the Bombers to a respectable 220, unfortunately Connors incredible
knock came to a painful end, caught in the deep for a well made 96.

The firsts all out for a very defendable 220. The Magpies 0/3 at stumps having survived a tense last over of the day. It sets up a tantalising run chase on day two next week.
Play resumes at Windy Hill next Saturday at 11:00AM.
2ND XI: CAMBERWELL 9-325
Needing to win to stay in touch with the 8 Captain Liam Tobin won the toss and wasted no time in electing to take the ball in the first innings. Looking to make early in roads, the home side got off to a flyer putting up an
opening stance of 112. That was until young gun Jackson Martin (3/89 Off 29) got the ball in
his hand, taking the first wicket of the day on the stroke of lunch. After a tough morning session the Bombers worked there way back into the contest, it was opening bowler Navdeep Rai (4/33 from 19 overs) who snared his first of the day to get the momentum rolling. With their tails up and showing some fight, Tobin took a blinder
at first slip to give Martin his second.
Martin combining with fellow spin twin Jaspar Wilson Keir (2/65 from 24 overs) halted the Magpies through the middle session and wrested back the momentum for the Bombers.

With wickets in the shed, the home side came out firing once again after tea, however some crafty
finishing from Rai claiming two more wickets in the final over of the day, restricted
Camberwell to 325 after 96 overs.
In good batting conditions the day sets up another juicy run chase for the Bombers. With a very strong batting line up the boys will be keen to make inroads into the total next week.
3RD XI: ECC 254 – CAMBERWELL 2-10
Looking to go back-to-back after a gutsy win last week, the thirds headed down to Cross
Keys Reserve. Captain Sean Phillips-Williams (37 off 68) won the toss and elected to bat first
with the hopes of putting up a big first innings score. However, the away side looked red hot
early snatching both openers in the first hour. Needing to wrestle back the momentum in
the second session, the middle order proved strong. With contributions coming from Arshit
Rajput (54 off 77), Arin Mishra (34 off 44), skipper Phillips-Williams and Jessraj Badhaan (32
off 62), the Bombers were able to put up 254.
A slightly under par score, the thirds had five overs to snare an early one and get the jump
before in the second innings. Looking to do some damage, searing young quick Luay Miraz
(1/8 off 3) and the ever-consistent Brad Porter (1/2 off 2) both took one each before the
close of play. With Camberwell already at 2/10, the thirds will be looking to take eight
wickets next week and ice the game.

Play resumes next Saturday at Cross Keys at 11:30AM.
4TH XI: CAMBERWELL 6-279
Heading down to Ross Gregory oval at Albert Park, Camberwell won the toss and chose to
bat first. Continuing his great form, 16-year-old George Martindale (2/28 off 15) took the
Bombers first of the day in his third over. The Magpies responded well with a 119-run
partnership, that was followed by a disciplined batting display. With support from young
quick Will Trower (2/49 off 12), the Bombers were able to restrict Camberwell. The Magpies
finished the first innings six down for 279 after 83 overs. The fourths will be eyeing off a big
run chase next week, hoping to grab their second win of the season.
Play resumes the Ross Gregory Oval next Saturday at 11:30AM.

It was another good day for the Bombers with strong performances across the grades meaning
all four games are in the balance and up for grabs, the Bombers will be looking to get a
few wins on the board next week.
