When Leg Spinner Jarrod Parsons picked up a faint edge well caught by keeper Poulton the Bombers looked to have the Kangaroos under pressure at 3-151 however as the wicket flattened out wicets became hard to come by and some good batting from the Kangaroos including 99 from former Bomber Ryan Stingle and some lower order hitting from UK import Benjamin Cliff allowed the Kangaroo’s to post a solid 7-309 at stumps. 2ND XI: GKCC 122 trail ECC 3-125 by 3 runs

It was a great day for the seconds securing 1st innings points on day one in what was a very exciting and clinical display. Winning the toss and sending the Kangaroo’s in to bat the home side started solidly going unbroken during the majority of the first hour of play despite some good bowling from the Bomber’s seamers. However as they say bowling is about partnerships and building pressure for your team mates and that pressure yielded great results for the remainder of the day. The introduction of spinner Jacob Pawlowicz had immediate effect getting the first breakthrough leaving the Kangaroo’s at 1-37. From there the Bomber's bowlers ran through the Kangaroo’s batting in short time. Spinner Jacob Pawlowicz was exceptional displaying great control and turn and picking up 4-39 whilst fellow spinner Jackson Martin continued his great season chipping in with 2-23. 15 year old Debutant seamer Luay Miraz also showed his obvious talent taking 3-35 from his 12 overs in what was a fiery and very impressive debut. Some viscous short balls and wicked swing and pace definitely raised a few eyebrows and offered a glimpse into what appears to be a very promising future.

The Kangaroos were ultimately bundled out for 122 in 58 overs just before tea.

After losing opener Gill and then number 3 Emerson White early, Captain Liam Tobin (67) and number 4 Prassana Ketheeshwaran (44*) put on a clinical batting display in a partnership of 85 to rebuild the innings. With 4 overs left in the day the Bombers put the foot down with some lusty blows accelerating the Bombers to score 1st innings points in the last over of the days play.

The 2nds will now look to take advantage of their strong position and seek maximum points when play resumes next Saturday.

3rd XI: GKCC 286 lead ECC 3-16 by 270

Bowling first at Cross Keys the 3rds had a solid day restricting he Kangaroos to 286 in very good batting conditions. After a good opening display from UK import Porter and fellow seamer Mishra it was spinner Pawaan Sharma who was the destroyer picking up 6-78 from 25 overs. In a classy spell Sharma demonstrated a perfect display of spin, flight and variation to bamboozle the Kangaroo’s batsmen and leave the Bombers in a strong position dismissing the Kangaroos for 286.

That left the Bomber’s a tricky 15 minute stint at the crease late in the day. Unfortunately the shine of the strong bowling performance was somewhat dulled as the Bombers lost 3 quick wickets to limp to 3-16 at stumps and set up a tantilising  chase of 270 to win next and week and secure a finals berth.

4th XI ECC 148 lead GKCC 4-50 by 98

It was an even day of cricket in the 4th XI clash. Batting first the Bombers started solidly reaching 38 before the dismissal of James. With the big wicket of Gill following shortly after the Kangaroo’s had their tales up and a continual stream of wickets had the Bombers on the backfoot 8-101. Some lower order resistance from keeper Sai Simhadri (25) and Sheik Aaron Cornish (27) at numbers 9 and 10 gave the Bomber’s bowlers something to bowl at enabling the 4ths to reach a defendable 148.

With the ball the Bombers were exceptional. Well led by skipper Krishna 'Inducker' Chandak the Bombers took 4 quick wickets to give themselves every opportunity of pulling off a remarkable win next week. Young seamers George Martindale and and George Dikeos were exceptional opening the bowling picking up one a piece whilst spinner Sheik Cornish followed up his batting efforts with 2 crucial wickets late in the day.

The 4ths will be looking for early wickets next week when play resumes.

Overall it was a solid day of cricket with exciting days ahead next Saturday for all 4 teams.
