ROUND THREE VS FRANKSTON PENINSULA – WEEK ONE
1ST XI
FRANKSTON PENINSULA 264
ESSENDON 2-14
Winning the toss and bowling first down at AH Butler Oval, captain Liam Molloy put
faith in his team to get it done with the ball. After a decent start from the home side, it
was the reliable veteran Nick McGuane (2/42 off 15) who broke through first. With
handy contributions to follow from Navdeep Rai (1/62 off 16) and the skipper Molloy
himself (1/22 off 11), the firsts looked in control at lunch.

Following the break, batsman turned allrounder Emerson White (1/7 off 3) struck with
the kookaburra, while speedster Harvinder Singh (3/63 off 11.4) and young gun
Jackson Martin (2/51 off 20) cleaned up the tail – Frankston all out for 264.
With 14 overs to bat before stumps, unfortunately both openers were dismissed.
Essendon head into day two 2/14.

2ND XI
FRANKSTON PENINSULA 420
Following suit and travelling down to the beach, the seconds were faced with a task
after losing the toss and sent to bowl. Tear away quick Lachie Busk was the pick of
the bowlers, ripping through the top order to give the twos the start they were after –
he finished with 4/65 off 16.3. Off spinner Arshit Rajput (2/82 off 22) and Ikroop
Dhanoa (2/63 off 10) also chipped in late with two apiece.
On a flat wicket, the twos did well to bowl out the home side – chasing 421 for the
win next week.

3RD XI
FRANKSTON PENINSULA 3/183
Back on their home deck at Cross Keys Reserve, with conditions both suiting
underfoot and overhead the thirds won the toss and elected to bowl first. On his
return from an injury stint on the sidelines, Agam Sandhu (1/31 off 11) was the first to
strike with the ball. Following the first, it didn’t take long for Para 'Paratrooper' Singh (1/45 off
16) to break through to dismiss both openers. Last years Mick Mitchell Award winner Paramvir 'Paratrooper' Singh is quickly becoming a cult figure leading the 3rds due to his keen interest in WW2 history and steady fast mediums.
With the game in the balance at the lunch break, Jacob Pawlowicz (1/42 off 15) squeezed in a tidy spell that saw him too pick up a handy wicket and break an important partnership.
With rain spelling an early end to day one, day two is set up for a thrilling finish.
Frankston sit 3/183 over the break.

4TH XI
ESSENDON 122
FRANKSTON PENINSULA 1/73
Heading down alongside the ones and twos, the fourths were sent in on a tough
wicket. With wickets falling thick and fast, captain Krishna Chandak (35 off 73) and
Prageeth Edirisinghe (20 off 30) showed some fight late, to post a total of 122.
With early wickets crucial, young speedster Muhammad Abdul Wasay (1/21 off 6)
was able to pinch an early wicket. However, some revolt from the home side saw
them wrestle back momentum. They finished the day 1-73, the fourths with some
work to do next week.
