The club has been saddened to hear about the death of past player , Ian ‘Squizzy’ Taylor, during the week.
Squizzy was a genuine fast bowling all rounder who would have been right at home in today’s T20 / white ball matches. Squizzy was a member of both the 1963/64 and 1969/70 1st XI premiership teams. He played 90 1st XI matches for Essendon scoring over 1500 runs and taking 85 wickets at 25 in the 1st XI.

Ian played at Essendon with his brother John, and was an incredibly popular clubman. With his family, he later became a very successful and popular publican at several hotels across Victoria including the Barwon Heads Hotel and the Delatite Hotel in Mansfield.
Essendon CC sends our very best wishes and condolences to his family.
