Windy Hill Dispute

In light of recent media coverage regarding the ongoing dispute with the Essendon Football Club and the use of Windy Hill, the Essendon Cricket Club would like to advise its members and supporters of the following.
Many of you may have seen the release of the AFLW fixture over the weekend, which included 2 matches at Windy Hill in October. This clearly clashes with cricket season.
For your information, the club advised Essendon Football Club early this year, that we would NOT agree to their request to host football matches at Windy Hill during cricket season. This is due to the major inconvenience it has caused us in the past two seasons and the subsequent delays it has caused in us being able to play cricket matches at Windy Hill.
Despite further discussions over the past few months, EFC has ignored our position and effectively scheduled matches, as announced. We are very angry at being treated so poorly by EFC.
Our club has been strongly supported by Cricket Victoria and Cricket Australia and we continue to liaise with them, the AFL and EFC.
The club is currently considering its options with all available channels being considered.
We’ll continue to update you regarding the situation.
